I spent two weeks in Kenya in March, 2013 thanks to one of my favorite travel companions, Joey Verge. We met in Nairobi and drove to Shompole where Joey had spent some time in the past researching hyenas. After a few days we drove back to Nairobi, then rambled west toward the Maasai Mara for a couple nights.
One week of safari was followed by a relaxing week on the Indian Ocean at Tiwi Beach and Lamu. I met some friendly souls on this trip and remember a lot of interesting characters. If I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to return, I look forward to visiting Kasaine Sankan and checking out how his Mara Lion Project is coming along.
